燕鷗疑被魚絲纏死 Tern possibly killed by Fishing line

每年夏天是燕鷗繁殖季節，本會呼籲市民不要登上有燕鷗繁殖的小島，以免騷擾燕鷗繁殖，因此舉有可能會觸犯法例。
根據《野生動物保護條例》，「任何人除按照特別許可證行事外，不得狩獵或故意干擾任何受保護野生動物；任何人除按照特別許可證行事外，不得取去、移走、損害、銷毀或故意干擾任何受保護野生動物的巢或蛋。」

近來有鳥友發現有燕鷗疑被漁絲纏死，本會呼籲釣魚人仕不要在繁殖季節登上有燕鷗繁殖的小島進行釣魚活動；即使是在其他地點，本會亦呼籲釣魚人仕清理好遺留下來的魚絲、垃圾等，因為這些棄置漁絲、漁鉤、垃圾等有機會傷害野生雀鳥，等別是燕鷗、鷺鳥等依靠海岸環境的雀鳥。

Summer is the breeding season for terns. HKBWS urges citizens not to land on the offshore islands where Terns breed ("Tern Islands"), to avoid causing disturbance to breeding terns, as this might violate the law.
According to the Wild Animals Protection Ordinance, "No person shall, except in accordance with a special permit, hunt or wilfully disturb any protected wild animal; No person shall, except in accordance with a special permit, take, remove, injure, destroy or wilfully disturb a nest or egg of any protected wild animal."

Recently, birders found a dead Tern which is suspected to be killed by fishing lines. HKBWS urges anglers not to land on Tern Islands for recreational fishing; Even if fishing in other locations, HKBWS urges anglers to take away fishing lines, hooks, rubbish, etc. because these abandoned materials may harm wild birds, especially those who depends on coastal environment like terns and egrets.

I just hope everyone can keep all fishing spots clean and clear. those places don't belong to us, it is shared by every recreational fisherman and other wildlifes. it only takes minutes to clean up everything, but if u are lazy to do that, those leftover fishing line and hooks could become a lethal trap to wildlifes.
