is there any fishing style that allows one to sit stll while fishing?

maeuchi style need to search for fish instead of waiting fish

That mean he wants to give his rod to the fishes as new year present.^^

Then relax and read under the trees.           
Better tell him not to read while he's driving.

That is not the style for drift-fishing!  

You need a high concentration and look for the substle line signal for bait taking!   You need to visualised the fish habit and pattern!  Let alone, the wind, sea current, life cycle of a fish, migration pattern, water temperature, tide pattern ....  All these factors are needed to melted into a fondue and for figuring out the move of the fish feeding best moment.  I'm heading to fish again at 01:00 tonight when I think the fish to take bait again.
