I'm not trying to sound like a jerk here and spoiling your fun, but please keep in mind that bass season is currently closed. Keeping one is against the law so please release it next time.

BTW, from what I understand it's unethical to even target bass during spring (i.e. the spawning season). Bass build nests and will guard their eggs and babies. Catching the parent fish will expose the babies to whatever danger awaiting. Their doomed fate is unavoidable especially because bass like to build nests close to each other. A neighbor fish can always destroy an empty nest next door.

Hey buddy, please release all the small mouth basses you caught next time.  Getting caught will cost you ton of money.
