It is very hard to compare between 2 rods and then try to judge which is better.
More importantly is what is the application we have in mind for the rod that you want to buy and then go on to buying a rod with the right characteristics, action and specifications.
JM has a totally different action from WRC44.
Lets say you use it to work a Fisherman Crazylong 520g jig.
JM because of its more parabolic action, will feel a lot easier on the angler physically because the softer tip absorbs most of the shock, so be sure the angler will be able to jig for a longer time. However because of the parabolic action, also expect the jigs to be worked less effectively because each stroke that you make, a WRC would probably have moved the jig by 1metre but the JM will only move it by 50cm. The numbers I use here are just for illustration.
So it really can be very personal when it comes to rod choices.
Rods that are able to work jigs of up to 600g or more and for deep jigging are aplenty in the market.
Here are some examples:
Fisherman Spinoza 512series, Sevenseas UltraHard 400 and 500, Sevenseas Oriental 300series, Ocean Revolution Black Monstro and Rodrigues Special, Carpenter OverHundred 55XHS etc etc. They are just what I can recall at this moment and have tried before. I have used them in Bali waters where fishing depth is from 100-120m, strong current requiring to work jigs from 500g to 1kg.
Of course all these being Japanese made, will cost a bit more. But I also believe that because they are good, the resale value of the rod is also higher. So pretty much makes up for the premium.
Again, let me reiterate that all these are just my personal opinion.
They all performed well for that purpose. |
