    Well i only have the winston rod in a #5, but most of the winston rods are quite soft i think compare it with the same line weight z-axis, it is a middle action rod. but not like it is limp, u need to change the way you cast the line, i would say it is more of a dry fly and river rod. but definitly when the fish is on, u are more enjoyable using a softer rod.

and out of all the choices you gave me, I would recommend the Xi3 coz I have the Xi2 and it really cast a long straight line with a double haul.
But before you go and buy the Xi3 please have a look at the Orvis Helios saltwater because i have casted the #10 before and it is alot lighter than my Xi2, (feels like a #7)and memory coils, quality cork handle and finishing, this is also within your price range. A very good  recommendation
